OBITUARY: Russell Anderson Relyea, 88, of Salt Lake City, formerly of Boise, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2005 in a Salt Lake City care center, of natural causes. Russell was born Jan. 17, 1917 in New Plymouth, Idaho to Sylvester and Idaho Lilly Anderson Relyea. Russell married Maureen Harris in 1937 and from that union came three children: Dr. Russell E. Relyea (Lucille), Pamela Horton Taylor (Ken), and Gwen Anne Tanner (Gary). He and Maureen have 15 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Russell attended Idaho State University, and the College of Mortuary Science in Los Angeles. He was a longtime funeral director and was Ada County Coroner for several years. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions therein. He is a World War II veteran and was also active in the Kiwanis Club and a founding director of Boise Southwest Rotary Club. Russell was a very compassionate man and his position as a mortician helped him express this quality. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers George and Marian, and his sister Velva Knight. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2005 at the Boise 10th Ward LDS Chapel, 3200 Cassia Street, Boise. Friends may call to visit with the family on Thursday, July 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Relyea Funeral Chapel, and from 12 noon until service time on Friday before the services at the church. Interment will follow at the Dry Creek Cemetery.
