Washington street, Telford, died at Grand View Hospital, Sellersville, where he had been a patient for nine weeks. He lived at his present address for 37 years.He was born in Marlborough Township, son of the late Silas and Sallie (Schwager) Harpel.Mr. Harpel was a moulder for 37 years at the Krupp Division of Buffalo Pipe and Foundry Corporation, formerly Hajoca, Quakertown. He retired in 1974.He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, and was overseas in the European Theatre.Mr. Harpel was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Telford, where he was a former church councilman, treasurer of the church, and secretary of the church cemetery. He was also a member of the International Moulders and Allied Workers Union, and Forrest Lodge #245, V.F.W., of Sellersville.In addition to his widow, he is survived by two step-sons, Dennis R. Barndt, Telford, and Robert L. Barndt, Red Hill; four granddaughters, three brothers, Howard S. and Preston S., both of Telford, and Herbert L., Souderton, and two sisters, Mrs. Jacob Devine, Souderton, and Mrs. Edward W. Barnes, Hatfield. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Minnie I. (Yost) Harpel in 1960.Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with interment in the church cemetery.Friends may call at the Virgil G. Sommers Funeral Home, 33 N. Main street, Telford, on Thursday evening 7 to 9, and at the church on Friday prior to the service from 10 to 10:30 a.m.
