He was born May 7, 1916 in Utica, a son of Norman A. and Laura P. Taylor Staves. He was married to the former Mirandia E. Busek June 23, 1940 in Oneida. He had lived in Rome since 1929, where he was employed at the Rome Division of Revere Copper & Brass for 45 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a trustee, an usher, and a former elder of the church. He also was a member of the Board of Directors of the Revere Credit Union for 30 years. He was also a former member of the Rome Lodge of Elks and had been active in Little League Baseball. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. John (Roberta) Silvetti, Berwick PA; one son, Robert Staves, Lafayette LA; two sisters, Mrs. Willard (Marie) Campbell of Rome and Mrs. Joseph (Rita) Torres of Rome; one brother, Kermit C. Staves, also of Rome, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Friday... Interment in Rome Cemetery... References
