"Dad went into Mercy Hospital for hernia operation and died of either pneumonia. Roy was born and raised in Albion. Graduated from Edgerton High School and attended Milton College. He was amember of the Class of 1935, but left school to work before graduation. He was Captain of the 1933 Milton College Football Team. He was employed by Oldsmobile Division of General Motors here in Janesville as a Sergeant on Plant Protection. They were making artillery shells during World War II.", Roy Whitford in 2003
