Facts and Events
According to phone conversation with Ruth Grout Braught (she has not remarried) on Feb. 25, 1997, Roy Wayne (usually called Wayne) Braught was almost reared by his father's brother, Charles Braught. Wayne was a good singer (in Barbershop Quartet Assn. and travelled to compete, etc.). He worked in the lab for Continental Oil, for Madison Alkili Co., and died about 18 yrs ago ( 1979?). She also said that Charles Dudley was really Dudley Charles, just called Charles; and that Sally was really Sarah Ruth, just called Sally (who married Thomas James Estling and they now live in Westlake, LA also). She said that Byron Braught had only middle initial C, not middle name, and that Wayne's mother died very young. SocSec shows a Roy Braught #446-18-7987 (OK) b. 20 Jan 1922 and d. Jan 1979 at Lake Charles, Calcasieu Co., LA (this likely the one and used here temporarily); but also a Roy Braught # 513-22-5429 (KS) b. 26 Mar 1928 and d. Jan 1975. Neither of those likely belong to this Roy Braught IF marriage date and birth dates of children estimated by Blake Braught are nearly accurate. I obviously need to re-contact Ruth Grout Braught on these details. During my call to her 9/28/97 she mentioned that several of Wayne's relatives had lived in New Mexico, near Albuquerque (she thought on a "Braught Rd." address). Sep. 97 on internet I found 2 Braught's in NM: John L. Braught, 167 Riverside Dr. SW, Albuquerque 87105-3862 (505) 877-9154; and R. J. Braught, 360 Shirk LN. SW, Albuquerque 87105-7542 (505) 873-0069. I intend to call Ruth G. Braught during fall 97 to help her complete family group sheets on phone, as I suspect she can not do it on her own although she is willing to share. Notice also that an uncle was named Tibbits Roy Braught (suggesting that the name Roy could have held some favored notion). In Aug. 1998 I received a call from Nations Bank (800) 845-7154 seeking a Roy and Catnita Braught of Dexter, KS. I found no such persons among my records at that time. |
