Personal History
Ross (Roasland[1] or Roseline[2]) Thomas Knowles, (first) son of Thomas Knowles of Welton, carpenter, by Rose Mary[2] Boulton,[1] was born on 12 January 1865,[1][3] and he was baptized on 12 April 1868 in the parish of Welton, Lincolnshire, England[2] (birth registered in the district of Lincoln[1]). He was baptized at the same time as his brother Charles.

On 4 June 1892 a license was issued in the county of Kent, Michigan, for Ross Knowles (age 27) of Alaska, Kent co., mason and son of Thomas Knowles and Rose Mary Bolton, and Bessie E. McConnell (age 17) of the same place, daughter of Milo McConnell and Lauria Calvin. It was recorded that Ross had once been previously married. They were married the following day at Alaska by Henry Renshaw, a Baptist minister. The marriage was witnessed by Laura McConnell of Alaska and Emma Fouger of Grand Rapids.
Death and Probate
Ross T. Knowles of 21 National Ave. SW, expressman, died on 27 January 1934 at City General Hospital, Grand Rapids, Kent co., of adenocarcinoma of prostate with contributing hypostatic pneumonia; the death was registered by his wife, Bessie Knowles of the same address.[3] He was buried on 29 January at Alaska Cemetery[3] in the township of Caledonia, Kent co.
