Some researchers list Rosannah's name as Frank, but no source is indicated. The Mocherman family is living next to a Franck family in the 1870 census and this may be Rosannah's relatives. The Franck head of house and one son are listed as born in Bavaria as is Rosannah. The date of her emigration from Germany to the United States is unknown.

The marriage of Rosanna Knott and Isaac Shaefer took place in Carroll county, Indiana 19 August 1879. In the 1880 census the Isaac Shaefer household has step-children who presumably belong to Rosannah. The presence of her son George Mocherman links her to the Lewis Mocherman family. There are also two Knott children indicating that Rosannah must have married a Mr. Knott between 1871 and 1874 and perhaps migrated with him from Ohio to Indiana where the Knott children were born.
