Ronald Lee Crumrin, Sr.
Ronald Lee Crumrin, Sr., 77 of Terre Haute, passed away at 1:51 AM on Thursday, September 13, 2012 in Union Hospital. He was born in Terre Haute on January 17, 1935 to Roy B. Crumrin and Dorothy McMahan Crumrin. He is survived by his wife Jacqueline M. Edwards Crumrin—whom he married August 12, 1952. Also surviving are 6 children; Peggy Mains Wessol & husband John, Ronald Lee Crumrin, Jr. of Texas, James A. Crumrin & wife Sandra, Judith A. Sheldon & husband Bill, Nicolette L. Crumrin & James Ofsansky, and Curtis Crumrin. One brother, Richard Edward Crumrin & wife Jean of Stilesville, IN, also survive. In addition, are his surviving grandchildren; Sarah Mains, Holly Wessol, Trevor Wessol, Tyler James Crumrin, Laura Jean Hires & fiancée Steve Eddleman, Dr. Jessica Durbin & husband Chris, Ashley Fathi & husband Othmane, April Sheldon & fiancée Derek Atterson, Brittany N. Belfi, Zachary Belfi, Joshua Belfi, Kyle Crumrin, and Cora Crumrin, as well as 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends in Indiana & Texas. He was preceded in death by 2 grandsons, Matthew Mains and Austin Curtis Crumrin, 1 great granddaughter, Alivia Sheldon Sanders, and one sister-in-law, Barbara Edwards Smith. He was a police officer for the Terre Haute City Police Department, retiring in 1989 after having served in many different capacities, eventually ending his career as a Technician. He then worked from 1989 – 2004 for the Vigo County Emergency Management Agency. He served a combined 34 years for both the Indiana Air National Guard (with the 181st Tactical Fighter Group) and the Indiana Army Guard ( 38th Supply Battallion), in addition to serving overseas. His memberships include being a 50 year member of the William Penn Masonic Lodge # 727 F & AM, where he was a 32nd degree member, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Zorah Shrine of Corpus Christi, TX, Fraternal Order of Police, Kerman Grotto, and Krietenstein American Legion Post # 104. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Funeral services will be held in DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park, with Graveside Rites to be performed by the Terre Haute Police Department Honor Guard. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with Masonic Rites at 7:00 PM performed by William Penn Lodge # 727 F & AM. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Terre Haute Police Department Honor Guard or the American Heart Association, in his memory, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
