A number of friends will be surprised to learn of the marriage of Miss Maud Powell ( dau of Romulus M. Powell) of Wallace Ave and Mr. George Gillespie of County Line St which occurred Wednesday of this week. The young couple were quietly married and the ceremony was performed by Rev Father Galagher. They will reside at the home of the groom’s parents.

Child Died in Mother’s Arms

While asleep in its mother’s arms death claimed the 3 day old child of M/M George Gillespie of 119 East Lutton St Friday about noon. Since birth the child had been in the best of health and its sudden death is a terrible shock to the parents. Funeral arrangements will be held from the parent’s home. (This would be grandchild of Romulus M. Powell.)

John Powell an aged resident of this city died at his home in West Wallace Ave early Friday morning, death being due to cancer and a complication of diseases. He was 85Y; he was born in Beaver Co but came to this city at an early age and resided here ever since. He was a carpenter by trade. For 50 years he was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church. He is survived by one daughter Mrs Flora Griffith of Pittsburg and 2 sons, Romulus and Niles, 1 brother George and 1 sister Mrs. Adaline Rhodes of Beaver Falls.

The parents of the deceased William and Margaret Cameron Powell were early residents of Beaver County. No complete funeral arrangements.

Many friends gathered Sunday afternoon at the Powell residence in West Wallace Ave when the last rites were held over the remains of John Powell, an aged resident of the city. Rev SC Gamble pastor of the Second United Presbyterian Church conducted the services. The interment was made in Oak Park Cemetery and the pallbearers were John Powell, George Gillespie, AS Griffith, and CL Griffith.
