Boonville Herald, Dec 2002: ROLLIN J. STARING Ava-- Rollin J. Staring, 62, of the East Road, a lifelong resident of the Town of Ava, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2002 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Utica. He had been a patient at the hospital since November 21. He was born in Rome on March 25, 1940, a son of Benjamin J. and Cecile Drumb Staring. Rollin attended school in Boonville. On October 4, 1984, he was united in marriage with Joan Sasenbury at the Boonville Methodist Church. For several years he was employed at the Larabee Wire Co. of Camden, and for 30 years he was employed as a machinist at Strandflex Wire Co. (now the ...) of Oriskany, retiring in March 2002. After that he had spent time in the Carolinas with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Staring had attended the Boonville United Methodist Church. He greatly enjoyed NASCAR racing, and in earlier years he, his father, and his brother Wendall had raced cars at local speedways. He is survived by his wife, Joan; two daughters, Sharon Davis and her husband Jim, Timberlake NC, and Carolyn Jones and her husband Thomas of Wise NC; three grandchildren... two sisters...
