  5.   Roger Hog, Esq. of Newliston, chr. 20 Nov 1715, was described in the certificate in 1783 from the Lyon office of Scotland, of the matriculation of his arms, as "Roger Hog, Esq., heir male and representative of the ancient families of Hog of Harcarse and Bogend, and chief of the surname." He married 14 March 1738, Rachel, daughter of Thomas Missing, Esq. of Stubbington Park, Co. Hants. Mr. Hog died in March 1789 and was succeeded by his eldest surviving son, Thomas Hog.
