Robert was reportedly born in the front room of their house at 2136 W. Walnut in Chicago, as were a number of the Wright brothers. This is near what is now the United Center. He was about five feet four inches tall. He was athletic. He was catcher on the Glen Ellyn Reds baseball team in the 1940's. He closely followed the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears throughout his life. He. may not have graduated from high school. He went to Northerwestern University night school for two years however. He worked in an office of Bausch and Lomb Optical Company in Chicago for fifty years. He managed the office and repaired optical equipment. He was exceedingly reliable in everything he did in his life. He was cremated in Rockford, IL. Winnebago County .
