Robert Worvell’s origins have yet to be established. His first confirmed sighting is on 28th July 1764, when he married Hannah Turner at Guiting Power in Gloucestershire. At the time of their marriage he was recorded as living in the neighbouring parish of Naunton.

After their marriage, Robert and Hannah settled in Naunton, having seven children there between 1764 and 1775, including a pair of twins in 1766. One of the twins died as a baby, as did another child in 1771.

Hannah died in 1776. Robert survived her by nearly fourteen years. He died in 1790 and was buried at Naunton on 8th November 1790, when he was described as a pauper.
