Robert Winans 1938-2007
CHAMPION - Robert J. Winans, 68, of Champion Township, died at 4:15 a.m. Friday at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
He was born in Kinsman, the son of the late Francis and Roxie J. Yoxtheimer Winans.
Bob was a Trumbull County resident most of his life and served in the U.S. Army. He retired as a towmotor operator from General Motors, Lordstown, where he worked for more than 30 years.
Bob was a member of SCOPE and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed coon hunting, square dancing, playing cards and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Pricilla S. Bable Winans, whom he married Aug. 18, 1979; three daughters, Debra (Don) Mazzella of Cortland, LaDonna (Ray) Lucas of New Freedom, Pa., and Denita (Brian) Lesher of Vienna; one son, Justin R. Winans of Howland; five sisters, Donna (Bill) Conner of Stuart, Fla.; Bessie Thorp of Cortland; Barbara Ann (Russ) Dennison of Conway, S.C.; Susie (Sam) Barricilla of Austintown and Lori Zuzolo of Niles; three brothers, Lawrence (Joann) Winans of Champion, Rick Winans of Conway, S.C., and Harold Winans of Warren; 10 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Two sons, Rodney Carl and Francis Dale Winans; a sister, Marie Latimer; and two brothers, Raymond and Danny Winans, all preceded him in death.
Arrangements are being handled by Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Meadowbrook Memorial Park in Champion.
