"About 1792, the sons of Robert and Eleanor (Wilson) moved to Tennessee.Robert Wilson II was said to have been the first man to cross theCumberland Mountains with a wagon. He married Jane McDowell, daughter ofWilliam and Ellen McDowell of York County, South Carolina. Both Jane andher mother went to King's Mountain after the battle and remained severaldays caring for the wounded soldier. It was said that William McDowellgave his only daughter in marriage because of the braver that RobertWilson displayed at King's Mountain. Jane McDowell was a very courageouswoman, also molding bullets for Gen. McDowell and his men for the Battleof King's Mountain. Robert Wilson #2 , was born in 1760 and died in1819. Jane Wilson was born in 1761 and died in 1853. They are buried ina family graveard in the part of the county that is now RutherfordCounty, between Allisona and Eagleville. Their children were (8):Eleanor, Jane, Mary, Asenath, Cynthia, Martha, Louise, Matilda.
