Living with his grandparents Donald and Glenora Beaton in Bangor at 1930 census. His mother had remarried to Karl Mutch. No record of his father in the census "Robert R. Wardwell, 74, of Woodville Road died Monday at a Portland hospital. He was born in Bangor, son of Robert and Glydie Beaton Wardwell, and attended schools in Bangor. Mr. Wardwell was an Army veteran of World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. On July 6, 1973, he married Barbara Anne Buote. Mr. Wardwell moved to Westbrook in 1967 and moved here 12 years ago. He was a truck driver for 25 years; he drove for Fox & Ginn and Earle W. Noyes & Sons. He was a counselor for the Serenity House in Portland, and also worked at Maine Medical Center. He was a volunteer driver for the Peoples Regional Opportunity Program and the Regional Transportation Program. He was also a Vista volunteer. He enjoyed fishing and camping. Surviving, besides his wife, are his stepfather, Karl Mutch of Brewer; four sons, Donald of Lewiston, Stanley Googins of McGuire Air Force Base, N.J., Matthew of Bangor and William of Eddington; two daughters, Julie Peterson of Westbrook and Sandra Perkins of Saco; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren." A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Hyacinth's Church, Westbrook. Burial will be in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery.
