Robert "Melvin" Sisk, age 87, of Russell, Kansas, died Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell, Kansas.
Melvin was born May 21, 1926, in Huntsville, Alabama, to James and Lillie Ann (Smith) Sisk. He married Peggy Crumrine on July 19, 1947, in Madison County, Alabama. She died September 30, 2002. He was a farmer, owned a Dry Cleaners, and worked in an Upholstery and Drapery Shop. He served his country during WW II with the United States Navy. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church of which he was a former Deacon there in Russell, Kansas.
Survivors include his daughter, Sandra L. Childers and her husband, Melvin of Russell, Kansas; a brother, Marvin Sisk of Huntsville, Alabama; four grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Dwayne Sisk and two daughters, Delores Ann Sisk and Patsy Carol Sisk; four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the Bible Baptist Church in Russell. Burial will be in the Russell City Cemetery. Hays Memorial Mortuary in charge.
