Grizel FORBES was born 26jul1752 at Dysart, Fife. Grizel married Robert OSWALD 27jun1778 at Dysart, Fife. Robert Oswald was maybe b. 1750 (S. Lumsden). Scottish Archives have the testament and inventory of Robert Oswald, shipowner and mariner, spouse of Grizel Forbes, registered 28oct1812 and later in Dysart, Fife. The interment at Dysart of Robert Oswald, shipmaster in Dysart, is recorded 25jul1812 and of his widow “Grace” Forbes 23mar1838. D. Sangster has Robert Oswald’s notebook (1807-12) when his part-owned ship the Phoenix” was operating as a govt. transport during the Napoleonic wars. Robert died shortly after selling the ship.
