Published December 16. 2003 6:01AM Nix, Amanda Beatrice Galloway Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crestwood Funeral Home for Amanda Beatrice Galloway Nix, 97, Walnut Park, Gadsden, who died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003. The Rev. Randy Postell will officiate. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge. She was born in Gallant on July 20, 1906. She was the daughter of Robert Lee and Suzannah (Susie Washburn) Galloway. Mrs. Nix was a member of Salem Baptist Church at Moody's Chapel in west Etowah County and was a lifetime resident of Etowah County. During World War II, she worked at Camp Sibert in the laundry. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and was very proud of receiving the Gadsden Beautification Award in 1992. She enjoyed Southern gospel singing, and she and her husband spent many years attending singings in the local and surrounding area. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Nix; grandson, Bryan Daniel Nix; sisters, Laura (Bob) Burton, Mary (Louis) Simmons, Ola (Clarence) Walker, Flora (Mainland) Terrell and Lorea (Grady) Anthony; and brother, Lonnie (Lena) Galloway. She is survived by her daughter, Earlene (Billy Rex) Stanfield, Gadsden; son, Dalton J. (Annette Puckett) Nix, Madison; grandchildren, Debra Lynn (Andy) King, Peach Tree City, Ga., Rex Alan (Lenore) Stanfield, Phoenix, Ariz., Johnny (Patricia Anne) Nix, Mobile, Bruce (Carol) Nix, Winston-Salem, N.C., and Randilyn Joyce (Gregory) Shaffer, Kenvil, N.J.; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sisters, Jessie (Henry) Johnson, Sardis, Iva Dean (Roy) Humphery and Lola J. Galloway; brother, Robert Lee (Sue) Galloway Jr., all of Gadsden; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Special thanks to Drs. H.B. Thompson, George Miller, Jed Kaplan and Alberto Echeverri and the nurses and staff of Gadsden Health Care. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to United Methodist Children's Home, P.O. Box 830, Selma, AL 36702-0830. Visitation will be from noon until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
