    Robert W. 'Bob' McCloud - Died September 11, 1999
    BENZONIA - Robert W. "Bob" McCloud, 67, of Benzonia, died suddenly Saturday
    afternoon at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
    He was born Sept. 20, 1931, in Joliet, Ill., the son of Fred and Luella
    (Effner). Robert had lived in the Benzonia area for the past 33 years having
    come from Kalamazoo.
    Robert served his county honorably as a member of the U.S. Marines; during his
    service he became disabled. He was a member and past commander of the Mortenson
    Post No. 221 American Legion in Frankfort; he served as commander for four
    years. Robert was also Chef DeGarde of the 40/8 in 1978.
    On March 21, 1964, in Kalamazoo, he married Donna Barrons; she survives. Robert
    is also survived by his children, Robert Jr. (Sharon) of Spicer, Minn., Stephen
    of Paynesville, Minn., and Richard of Kalamazoo; stepson, Steven Fowler in
    Guam; daughters, Roberta Walser of Traverse City and Deborann (Thomas) Ryan of
    Homer; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Jay (Diana) of
    Bangor; and a sister, Doris (Bob) Martin of Churubusco, Ind.
    Friends may meet with the family from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 4 to 9 p.m.
    Tuesday at the Perry Chapel, McElduff Funeral Homes in Benzonia.
    Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home. Interment
    with full military honors under the auspices of Mortenson Post No. 221 American
    Legion in Frankfort will take place at Benzonia Township Cemetery.
    Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Michigan
    Heart Association.
