Will of Robert McCain

LAST WILL and TESTAMENT of ROBERT McKEAN

In the name of God Amen, I Robert McKean of Cumberland Township County of York and State of Pennsylvania being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament; viz.

First I give my soul into the hands of God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent manner at the discretion of my executors and as touching such worldly goods as it hath pleased God to bless me with I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form:

Item: I will, order and empower my after named executors to seal, make over and convey my plantation in the aforesaid Township with all the hereditments thereunto belonging and divide the money arising from the sale of said plantation as followeth.

Item: I will and bequeath unto my son, John McKean five shillings to be paid out of my estate

Also, I will and bequeath unto my granddaughter Agnes Trimble Five pounds to be paid out of my estate.

Also, I will and bequeath unto my grand-son, John Trimble, son of my daughter Mary Trimble (deceased) five pounds to be paid out of my estate.

Also, I will, order and bequeath the remaining part of my whole estate to be equally divided between my six after named children, viz: my son, Hugh McKean, one_sixth part, my son, Thomas McKean, one equal sixth part; my son, James McKean, one equal sixth part; my son, Alexander McKean, one equal sixth part; my son, Martin McKean, one equal sixth part; and my daughter, Ann Craig, one equal sixth part.

And I do hereby constitute, make and appoint my two before mentioned sons, viz, Thomas McKean and Alexander McKean, my whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament and I do hereby revoke all former wills, legacys and bequeaths by me in any wise before mentioned will or bequeathe, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this sixth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine 1789.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by Robert McKean as his last will and testament who in his presence and at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto affixed our names as witness.
