Robert Daniel Magee Passed Away Sunday---After an illness which kept him confined to his room thru many weeks, death came Sunday afternoon as a sweet relief to Hon. R. D. Magee. Mr. Magee never grew strong after a severe attack of flu and hadn't vitality enough to fight the drain on his constitution when his kidneys became involved and his whole system poisoned so he could not retain nourishment for the up-building of his strength. He was taken to the Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial Hospital on Thursday of last week but said almost from the first that it was a losing fight and he had no hope of pulling thru this illness. His entire family remained at his bedside while doctors and nurses battled for the life of the stricken one, but the pain became so intense that all were relieved to see the end come Sunday and cut short the suffering. Mr. Magee was 66 years, 18 months and seven days old; a life-long member of the Methodist church; quiet, dignified in his manner; a faithful friend, a wonderful neighbor, a good husband and father; and his going will be felt as a keen loss by many. In business he was a successful farmer and banker, being a stockholder in the Citizens Bank of this place, and president of the bank since its organization four years ago. He is survived by his wife, who, thru all the years has been a help-meet and a companion in the truest sense of the word, two sons and six daughters, all in homes of their own except Stella, who stays with her mother and keeps books for the bank; six grandchildren and four brothers. Many friends came from Bogalusa, and from the country surrounding Franklinton to attend the funeral which was held from the residence at 2:00 o'clock Monday, Revs. L. W. Cain, F. N. Sweeney and H. E. Pettus officiating, with Masonic ceremonies and interment at Ellis cemetery.
