Note that the author argues that Robert Johnson was not the father of John Johnson, the grandson of Arthur Allen. (The argument is hampered by the previous conflation of not just 2 but 3 men, since the argument refers to the Robert Johnson who married Katherine, yet relies on the 1732 will date of this Robert Johnson. Nevertheless, there is no convincing evidence that any of the 3 men were the same person.)

  2. 2.0 2.1 2.2 Robert Johnson, in Wikitree.com.

Has a transcript of Robert Johnson's 1732 will.

Note that as of Aug 2025, this Wikitree page is a conflation of at least 3 people: Robert Johnson, husband of Ann, who wrote his will in 1732; Robert Johnson, husband of Katherine, who deeded land to his daughter Mary in 1692; Unknown Johnson, husband of Unknown Allen, a daughter of Arthur Allen and Alice Tucker. A book that appears to have conflated the 3 men has been shown by later writers to have flawed arguments.

  3. The 1732 will of this Robert Johnson named Mary and Sarah Johnson as his younger daughters. The wording suggests that they were unmarried. Robert Johnson, husband of Katherine, had a married daughter Mary by 1692. In addition, estimating birth years based solely on what is known (rather than what is speculated), indicates that the 2 Robert's were likely a generation apart.
  4. His will names 11 children - 3 daughters were married, and the bequests suggest at least 5 of his sons were adults by 1732.
  5. See their respective death dates and sources for them. It appears that at least one book conflates them.
