Iron, Robert - service in Indian Wars, Virginia, 1790-95; no Revolutionary War service; entered Greenbrier County, Virginia, to fight Indians, gave son Silas power of attorney to apply for Bounty Land Warrant when soldier resided Lewisburg, Highland County, Ohio, 1854 age 84; Bounty Land Warrant #27032 granted soldier; no claim for Pension; query letter in file 1934 from descendant John O. Boyd, New York, New York states soldier's surname was actually IRION, further querier's grandmother mentioned but not named was age 88 in 1934. F-BLW27032, R1393.

A South Carolinian named Robert Iron, when aged twenty years, emigrated to western Virginia, where he followed surveying for seven years, locating claims for soldiers of the Revolutionary War. He then located in Brown County, Ohio, then moved to Pickaway, settling in Fayette county, in 1814, on lands purchased from Thomas Hine, located at the banks of Sugar Creek in Perry Township. He sold to William Snyder in 1848. He was the father of sixteen children by one marriage. He was in all married four times, and died at his daughter's, in Highland County, in 1848. [Note: other sources have Robert dying in 1856, his Revolutionary War Pension file documents he resided in Highland County, Ohio in 1854].

Page 506 --Sarah Irion, admrx. vs. Robert A. Irion Sarah Irion of Clark County, married April 23, 1844 Robert A. Irion of Fayette County. She was then widow of Arbogast, dec'd., who owned land in Clark County; Sarah and Robert amicably separated, she returning to the home of her son in Clark County; that Irion January 13, 1847 sued for divorce in Fayette County of which suit she had no notice until after divorce was granted. Mrs. Irion had son-in-law --- Smith. John Irion son of Robert; Sarah died November 1850, intestate; Henry and Cornelius Arbogast, Admrs. of Sarah's estate.
