    Son of Joseph Howe. Married Mary Watson, daughter of Col. James Samuel Watson and Elizabeth McDowell. Had a son, Joseph Howe (1778-1780) who died near the same time that Robert Howe was killed at the Battle of Hanging Rock, Heath Springs, Lancaster County, South Carolina. Robert Howe served with General Thomas Sumter, "The Fighting Gamecock." The battle was fought August 6, 1780 ; and Robert Howe's body was never recovered. His son is buried at Bethel Presbyterian Church cemetery in Clover, SC. His wife married Rev. John Akin, and she is buried at Pisgah Church cemetery, Hampshire, Maury, TN.
