6/4/00 Downloaded Ancestry.com Gedcom file #46726 which states source of this info is Broderbund WFT Vol 16, Edl 1, Tree #1609, rel 12/15/97. Ancestry tree contact is [email protected]. Per this GEDCOM, Robert is listed as George Johnson, with wife Emily. The children match, but based on oral history and his son’s death certificate, I believe his true first name was Robert.

Unable to find them in 1870 or 1880 census schedules for either Cumberland or Buckingham Counties. I’ve gone through each county page by page, have found several “close” matches, but nothing conclusive.

10/8/00 per Brenda Jones ([email protected]), his name was “George A. Johnson”, this information she received from Aunt Mabel Cabbell several years ago.

Per either James Johnson or his sister, Mabel, the Johnsons were owned by a Putney family in Buckingham County, VA.

2000 Per interview with Mabel Cabell (Robert’s/George’s granddaughter) on 5/13/2000, in New Canton, VA, his name was Robert Johnson, and he and Emily had four children together: George, Edward, Delia and Elizabeth. Edward divorced, lived in Buckingham county, later moved to PHL and died there. He had two children, Mary and Willie, Willie was dead by 2000); Delia may have lived in Cumberland County; Elizabeth divorced and moved to PHL, may have lived in Cumberland County for a while. The four kids had a half brother, Stillman, who had a different mother. He died in PHL in a nursing home long ago, and may have had a daughter. ** NN to confirm all this **
