Ownder: Probably Mr. Putney Peg Leg. Lost his leg in a mule accident. 1869 Cumberland Co, VA births, 1853-1896 August 1869 John Johnson born to Emily Johnson, father unknown. Considering the fact that our George Johnson was supposedly born September 1869 in Cumberland Co and his mother was Emily Johnson, I think this “John” Johnson is actually our George. However, more research is needed to verify. There are no other Johnson boy birth records in Cumberland County for this general time.
