Fowlerville Review Feburary 3, 1905 LAID TO REST

Robert Fisher died at the home of his son, David Fisher, at Bell Oak, on Thursday of last week, aged 91 years. He was born in Wayne Co., New York, Jan. 16, 1814, and was there married to Mariah E. VanWert, August 27, 1836, and in 1847 they came to Michigan and settled in the township of Tyrone, where they remained until about 1853 when they moved to the township of Locke. In 1860 they moved back to this village, where he conducted a wagon shop until 1870, when he moved back to the farm in Locke, where his wife died about twenty months ago. Since that time he has made his home with his children. He was converted when a young man and united with the M.E. church, living a consistent christian life, loved and respected by all. He was the father of ten children, six of whom still survive him, one son, G.L. Fisher, and one daughter, Mrs. G.D. Hamilton being residents of this village. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church at Bell Oak, of which he was a member, on Saturday afternoon, the Rev. W.A. Kishpaugh officiating and the remains were interred beside his wife.

FOWLERVILLE REVIEW OCT. 5, 1900

Robert Fisher of Locke is almost 87 years of age, but is still spry enough so that he can cut 5 acres of corn in less than 6 days. If there's any men in this country that can beat this record, we'll be pleased to hear from him.

Robert Fisher, formerly of Wayne County, Rebuilt a sawmill s/ "spencer and fisher", started a wagon shop, sold to William O. Fisher.

Robert FISHER, formerly of Wayne Co., N.Y., settled in 1850, upon the northeast quarter of section 24, which was, with the exception of five acres, uncleared. He built a shanty and began the labor of improving. Rapid progress ws made, and well-cultivated farm, upon which he now resides, has superseded the wilderness.
