Robert DeFrates, 68, of 700 S. Illinois St. died at 8:33 p.m. Monday at Memorial Medical Center.
Born in Springfield, where he was a lifetime resident, he was the son of Murl and Mary Wilson DeFrates.
He retired as owner of Economy Shoe Shop after 52 years of business.
He was precede in death by his wife, Vera, in 1977 and by two brothers, James and Lewis.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Mary) Griswald and Mrs. Ed (Jewelle) Eck; one brother, Bernal of Springfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins; several great-nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Bisch Memorial Home with the Rev. Edward Hellyer officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
