  4. 4.0 4.1 Obituary - George Dark, in Nipawin Journal.

On Tuesday, August 13, 1963, George Dark passed away in the Nipawin Union Hospital after a long illness.
Robert George Dark was born at Seaforth, Ontario, April 9, 1889. He learned the barbering trade at the age of 17 years. Two years later he made his first trip west to Minnedosa, Man., where he had several uncles who were farming. In 1912 he went to Soughton and Brownlee, Saskatchewan, where he both farmed and barbered. In 1916 he married Ellen Holmes, of Deloraine, Man., and the couple then made their home at Gilroy, where they farmed. In 1919 they returned to Brownlee where barbered until 1930, when he moved his family to White Fox. Poor health forced him to retire three years ago.
Mr. Dark served on the school board for 12 years. His interests centered around young people and sports. While at Brownlee he coached football and hockey, at White Fox baseball and curling were his main interests. It was indeed a dark day in his life when his health force him out of the curling game. Traditionally, the barber always has a story or a joke to pass along, and this was certainly true of Mr. Dark.
Funeral services were held in the Orange Hall at White Fox, with Miss Sue Seymour officiating. Hymns sung were: "My Faith Looks Up to Thee" & "Peace, Perfect Peace." The United Church choir sang "Beyond the Sunset." Interment was in the White Fox Cemetery with the Nipawin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Honary pallbearers were V. Hayes, Cecil McLean, Jack Green, Fred Lundgren, Art Logan, Joe Hawkins. Active pallbearers were Gordon McBain, Paul Jacques, Lloyd Spence, Lewis Hayden, M. Rusk and Bill Sears.
Besides his wife, the late George Dark leaves to mourn two sons, Robert of Guelph, Ontario, and Delmar or Penhold, Alta., and two daughters, Evelyn, (Mrs. Bill Chometsky), and Grace, (Mrs. Joe Wall), both of White Fox.
