    Ellen Jane Dark passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 2, 1989 in the Herb Bassett Home in Prince Albert.
    She was born near Acton, Ontario on October 23, 1894 and came west to Brandon, Manitoba with her parents and two sisters when she was 2 years old. The family later moved to Mountain Side where they farmed.
    Ellen received little schooling, attending only in summer when she could be spared from household and farm chores. There were no fences and the children spent long days herding cattle, milking coes and helping in the fields. She began work as a domestic at an early age and her wages were sent directly to her parents, however she never complained.
    She married Robert George Dark on December 13, 1916 at Mountain Side, Manitoba and came to Gilroy, Saskatchewan where they farmed for a number of years. Later moving to Brownlee.
    In 1931, George and Ellen moved to White Fox where they raised their family. Ellen was a devoted mother, grandmother and an active worker in the community. She was an honorary member of the Right Worshipful Grand Lodge of the Ladies Orange Benevolent Association of Saskatchewan and also of the L.O.B.A. in White Fox. Ellen was a Honorary life member of the White Fox U.C.W. In 1981 she moved to Spruce Home to live with her daughter Grace and later became a guest at Pineview Lodge in Prince Albert. He health deteriorated and she moved to the Herb Basset Home in June of 1984.
    Ellen is survived by two sons Robert of Vancouver, B.C. and Delmar (Irene) of Sarnia, Ontario; two daughters Evelyn Chometsky of Saskatoon and Grace (Ron) Fremont of Spruce Home; sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; two sisters Laura Innes of Deloraine, Manitoba and Florence Harrison of Boissevain, Manitoba.
    Ellen was predeceased by her husband and three infant children; her parents William John and Isabella Homes (McIssac); three sisters Margaret Ferguson, Mina Dunn and Isabel McLeod; and a granddaughter Dorothy Krasoski.
