Will of Robert Christian

Will of Robert Christian, made Mar 25, 1748, proved May 1749
In the name of God, amen, I, Robert Christian of Albemarle Co., and Saint Ann's Parish, being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, blessed be God for the same, make this my last will and testament as follows:
First, I desire my debts to be paid out of land.
I give and bequeath to my three sons John, Robert, and Drury Christian one tract of land that I now live on containing 1,000 acres to be equally divided among them to them and their heirs forever.
I give and bequeath to my son John Christian two new surveys of land, the one on the river and the other on Elk Island and creek branches to him and his heirs forever.
I give and bequeath to my daughter Lucy Christian fifty pounds.
I give to my wife should she be with child with a son then to have, with my sons equal part of land, and if a daughter, then with my daughters for money.
I give to my wife Lucy Christian all remainder of my estate desiring her to bring up my children.
My daughter Lucy is not yet baptized.
I also revoke all other wills by me formerly made and do appoint and ordain my wife Lucy Christian and my friend William Bradley, her brother, executors and executrix of this my last will and testament, as witness my hand and seal this 25th of March, in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred forty-eight.
I desire also that William shall have privilege to work two slaves five years at the lower end of my low ground below the Great Branch.
