An Inquisition at Chatham, Barnstable, Massachusetts, dated 'the fourth day of Decr in the ninth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George' [1722] regarding Robert Calf, merchant of Boston, gave the verdict that he killed himself by drowning.
↑ Some online trees assign him a birth date of 27 Mar 1667. A Robert Calfe, son of Robert and Mary Calfe, was baptized in Walcott, Norfolk, England on that date. However, there were also in Walcott a Mary Calfe baptized 1661 (died 1665) and an Elizabeth Calfe baptized and died in 1664, who were also the children of Robert and Mary Calfe. Assuming these children were all part of the same family, they could not have been the children of Robert Calef the immigrant, who would have been 13 at the time of Mary's baptism.
