Robert Buckmaster
d.Aft 1880
- H. Robert BuckmasterAbt 1825 - Aft 1880
- W. Nancy Fulton (add)
m. 15 Nov 1846
Facts and Events
Parents
- Ancestral file suggests parents were John Buckmaster (b. 1799 Ohio) and Rachel Barnes (b. 1803 Ohio).
- IGI file suggests same parents, but b. 1780 (MD, PA or DE) and 1785 (VA), respectively
- There is, apparently, a book called "Buckmasters in America" written by a descendant of Robert's son Robert N. It is not available online but an excerpt appears to be quoted at http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=ddetling&id=I3337.
- Two households away from Robert in the 1850 census is the family of Richard Buckmaster, a. 38, b. PA; living with him is John Buckmaster, a. 65, b. MD.
Children
- Robert's oldest son Solomon married Sarah Mitchell in Appanoose, Jan 1871 (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XJC9-C48). The newlyweds moved to Santa Rosa, CA, where Solomon appeared on the voter rolls in May 1871 (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VYD7-BZH). The family remained in Santa Rosa.
- Robert's second son Charles followed Solomon to Santa Rosa, where he appeared on the 1873 voter rolls as Charles Franklin Buckmaster.
- Daughter Hannah m. Burwell King in 1871 and initially moved about (Virginia, Missouri, and Iowa by 1880), eventually ending up in Nebraska.
- George returrned to Appanoose to marry, having his first two children there; but was back in Kansas by 1888; in White, Arkansas in 1895, and in Orr, OK for the 1900 census.
- James was in OK at the 1900 census. John was in OK at the 1910 census.
- Robert married in White, Ark. in 1898 and was still living there in 1900. He died in Pangburn, White, Ark in 1940
Since the youngest 4 children moved together (more or less) to Ark and OK, it seems possible that Robert was then still living and they were traveling as a family.

Geo. W. Hardon seems likely to have been Robert's employer and George Buckmaster's namesake.

Intervening households (between Robert's and John's families) also gave "Farmer (renter)" as occupation; perhaps they were renting from Robert.
