  7. Many sources identify his parents based on a baptism in Marblehead on 27 Jan 1793 to William and Tabitha. However that baptism says the child is 3 years old, which would be in disagreement with the age at death and the age in the census records. Further, the records seem to indicate he was born in Salem (one saying Salem, N.H., but most, along with censuses, indicating Mass.) Commentary say little is known of his childhood and so it is far from clear that this identification is credible. It is possible that the age in the baptism was misreported, possibly being 3 m., or 3 w., but no evidence of who his parents were has been found.
