Robert married first, contract dated 2 March 1526, KATHERINE ERSKINE, daughter of JOHN ERSKINE of Dun. She dsp at Arbuthnott 15 June 1529 according to "Memories" and 29 May 1529 according to the "Missal". He married, second, CHRISTIAN KEITH (born Keith, E Lothian 1512; died before 12 July 1553), eldest daughter of Robert, Lord Keith (born Dunnottar, Kincardine ca. 1483; died after 5 April 1514) (and his wife (md Morton, Dumfriesshire, Scotland 1505), Elizabeth, née Douglas) and sister of Sir William Keith. Robert Lord Keith (said to have been killed at the Battle of Flodden, 1513, but still alive on 5 April 1514 per Sir James Balfour Paul's "Scots Peerage") was the son of William Keith, 3rd Earl Marischal and the brother of Alexander Keith of Pittendrum, the first husband of Marion Lundie whose second husband was Mr Robert Arbuthnot, the uncle of Robert, 14th of Arbuthnot. Elizabeth Douglas (born Morton; died after 5 May 1527) was the daughter of John Douglas, 2nd Earl of Morton (born Morton ca.1459; died ca.1512) and Janet, née Chrichton (born Scotland 1461; md Scotland before 22 June 1493), whose mother (the wife of James Douglas, 1st Earl of Morton) was Joanna Stewart, the deaf and dumb daughter of King James I of Scotland and Queen Joan Beaufort.
