    [15 Feb 1777: Williamson Ball and wife made a deed to Peter Conway. The release deed of Peter Conway names them as "Williamson Ball and Priscilla his wife." The words are: "Whereas, Rich'd Spann, by his last will and testament, dated Feb. 14, 1764, did bequeath to his wife, Priscilla Spann (now the wife of Williamson Ball, gent, party to these presents), during her natural life, all the negroe slaves of the said Richard Spann," &c, &c.]

    [Will of Richard Spann]
    I Rich'd Span of the county of Northumberland, being weak of body but of sound Judgm't and memory, thanks be to God Calling to mind the Certainty of death and the uncertainty of time. Do make this my last will & Testament in the manner following. First I commit my soul to god my creator and my Body to the Earth its original in hopes of a Joyful meeting of Soul and Body at the Resurrection of the just by the merits, mediation and Intercession of my blessed Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
    Imp'rs I give to my well Beloved Wife Priscilla Span, all my Lands, Negroes Chattles and Household furniture except a negro girl named Lucy (which last mentioned girl I give to Judith Churchill sister to my beloved Wife) for and during the life of this my above named well Beloved wife, and after her Decease, It is Divided between Peter & Walker Conway Sons of my uncles Peter & George Conway.
    Item I give to John Span Conway my part of the Sloop wh we are Joined in partnership in.
    Item I give to Richard Conway the sloop now in the Stocks with as much Timber and plank as will finish her.
    Item I give to Mrs. Hannah Churchill twenty pounds to purchase a suit of mourning.
    Item I give to Mrs. Frances Sinah Conway twelve pounds to purchase a suit of mourning.
    Item I give to my well beloved wife whatever part of her Fathers Estate might have fallen to her to be all at her own disposal.
    Item I give to Mary Cresswell three pounds to purchase a mourning ring.
    Item I appoint my well beloved Wife and Mr. John Blackwell Executors of this my last will and testament.
    In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 14th day of Feby 1764.
