Obituary Richard E. Sloan Richard E. Sloan, 54, Cameron, died November 4 at a hospital in Liberty. Mr. Sloan was a lifelong resident of Cameron and graduated from Cameron High School. He also received training at a technical school for two years. He had been employed for the past eight years at William Jewell College in Liberty, working in telephone communications. Mr. Sloan served in the Air National Guard from 1963 until 1969 and was a member of the First Christian Church of Cameron. He was also active in Boy Scout Troop No. 87 and the Cameron Sports Association, for which he had been an umpire. He was preceded in death by his father, Vern Sloan, in 1981; an infant son, Ronald T. Sloan in 1968; an infant twin brother and sister, Lawrence and Florence. Survivors include his wife Kay Kinnison Sloan; a son Corey Sloan, Cameron; a daughter, Kasey Sloan, of the home; his mother, Thelma Sloan, Cameron; and a brother, Marlin Sloan, Lometa, Tex. Services were held November 9 at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron. Burial was at Cameron Memory Gardens Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Organ Donor Association or Downs Syndrome and may be left at the funeral home. |
