Richard (Dick) F. Laughner, 92 of Indianapolis, formerly of Carmel, IN passed away June 19, 2013. A celebration of his life will take place at Flanner and Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Rd, Fishers IN in the Good Shepherd Chapel on Sunday June 23, 2013 from 4:00-6:00 PM.
Richard was born on June 19, 1921 in Indianapolis, IN to Flora (Power) and Claude Laughner. He worked many years for Haag Drug Company prior to forming Laughner Bros. with his brothers Lloyd and Charles and opening the first Laughner Bros. cafeteria in 1958 in Nora. Richard remained with Laughner Bros. as Executive Vice President until his retirement in 1990.
Richard is survived by his son Rick (Barb), daughter Lisa, grandchildren Adam (Jenny), Jon, Alex (Caroline),and Katie, great grandchildren Kaleigh, Elias and Liam (who lovingly referred to him as G-Pa) and family friend Wanda. He enjoyed reading especially anything written about Carmel, the community in which he spent 40 years. He also enjoyed spending time with his family providing his grandchildren and great grandchildren with indispensable advice like "Don't drink your bath water" and "Don't take any wooden nickels" or asking them questions like "Do you eat to live or live to eat?" Richard (Dick, Dad, Grandpa, G-Pa) enjoyed a good laugh and always had a smile for everyone.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Marilyn, brother Lloyd, and sisters Frances and Janet.
In lieu of flowers have a good laugh, read a book, pet your dog, or make a donation to your favorite charity in his memory.
