Richard J. Jones, 74, of 1602 Main St., Slatedale, died Sunday in Allentown Hospital. He was the husband of Arlene M. (Walters) Jones.
He was employed in the combustion department of Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 34 years before retiring in 1975.
Born in Slatedale, he was a son of the late Wilson R. and Agnes (Krum) Jones.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Slatedale, where he served on the council for 22 years. He also was the superintendent and assistant superintendent of the Sunday school for 12 years.
Jones helped organize the Slatedale Ambulance Corps and was a board member of the Fereinicht Pennsylfanich Deitch Fulk Inc., Mount Penn, Reading, for the past six years.
Surviving with his widow are a daughter, Gail A., wife of Paul W. Horner, at home, and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the church. Calling hours will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Robert K. Hahn Funeral Home, 1778 Main St., Slatedale.
