Richard Hill probably came from Lunenburg County, Virginia. Along with the Moberleys, Meadows (Meadors), Halsy (Halsell) and Wagner families and settled what is now Fairfield County in the Northwest part, on the tributaries of Broad and Little Rivers before 1761.

  2. The year was originally entered as "1760 or 1768", presumably from a source that was difficult to read. Since his other land grant in the same area was in 1768 and not surveyed until 1764, it is assumed this one was also in 1768.
