Richard Hall's origins have yet to be established. His first confirmed sighting is on 22nd May 1780 when he married Sarah Bigg at Caddington in Bedfordshire. Richard and Sarah are known to have had at least two children, but neither appears to have been baptised as an infant, suggesting the family may have been non-conformist. They had a daughter Elizabeth who was said to be born in 1785, but was not baptised until her wedding day in 1803 in Caddington. They also had a daughter Sarah Bigg Hall baptised aged seven in 1795 at St Paul's Walden in Hertfordshire, about ten miles east of Caddington. It is not clear what happened to Richard and Sarah after having their two daughters. |
