    This memorial marker is located in the Shelby-Oakland Cemetery in Shelby, Richland County, Ohio, the final resting place of Almanza Rogers, who removed from Pennsylvania to Richland County, Ohio. The marker honors Almanza's mother, Rhoda, who was a widow when she lived with Almanza in Ohio before moving on to Illinois where she died; and Malinda, Almanza's first wife and mother of his children. She died and was buried in Pennsylvania.

    Andrew's grandfather's [Almanza Rogers], mother was Rhoda Drake Rogers. In Andrew's bio, referring to Almanza Rogers, first living in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania..."His neighbors were numbered among the pilgrims of Connecticut who came to the new world from England. His mother, Mrs. Rhoda Drake Rogers, was a descendant of the family to which Admiral Drake belonged and she came to Ohio [1839] with her son, [Almanza] Rogers, being at that time a widow."

    "The maiden name of his [Elihu's] wife was Rhoda Drake. She survived her husband some years, and from Pennsylvania went to Ohio, and finally coming to Lee County made her home in her last days with her son, Jacob D. She now lies quietly sleeping the sleep of death in the cemetery at South Paw Paw."

    Undated and unsigned, hand-written notes by the eldest child of "Elihue Rogers" and "Hannah Drake," which RC believes to be Rhoda Drake.

  8.   Jacob DRAKE6; Jacob5, Jacob4, Job3, Job2, John1, - born in Windsor, Connecticut Mar 23, 1732/3; married in Wintonbury Parish, April 12, 1764, Rhoda DRAKE b. Aug 15, 1747 (parents - Asahel and Damais (KELSEY) DRAKE). They moved to Columbia County, N.Y., and in 1790 Jacob DRAKE6 was the head of a family of nine persons in Hillsdale, NY. Rhoda DRAKE (1747) died about 1775. Jacob DRAKE, while in New York State was a minister of the "New Lights" denomination, but later became an Elder in the Baptist Church. He traveled along the Hudson River. He settled in Exeter, Luzerne County, Pa., about 1792 and organized the first Baptist Church in Northern Pennsylvania.
    He was in failing health after the year and finally became blind. He died Nov. 4, 1806, the "Dimock Diary" says in Dallas, PA.
