Retta Myrtle went by the name "Myrtle." She died when she was 47 years, 9 months, 8 days old. Her obituary read: "MRS. EMILE M. VOYLES. Retta Myrtle, youngest daughter of Frank and Mary Lowery, was born May 18, 1896, departed this life February 28, 1944, age 47 years, 9 months and 8 days. She was united in marriage to Emile M. Voyles, October 9, 1916. To this union three children were born, one daughter Mrs. Eunice Deweese, two sons Pfc. Vernice V. Voyles and Sgt. Kermit E. Voyles, who are serving their country in foreign lands. Myrtle was a devoted wife and mother, a good neighbor and loving friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was a member of Kansas Church of Christ and was a faithful Christian. She leaves to mourn her passing her faitful husband, the three children, Eunice Deweese of Salem, Pfc. Vernice Voyles, somewhere in England, Sgt. Kermit Voyles, somewhere in the South Pacific; one granddaughter, Sandra Kay Voyles; two sisters Stella Hauger of Fredericksburg, Indiana, and Effice Colglazier of New Albany, Indiana, and a host of relatives and friends." |
