1850 Census Wayne, Marion Co., Indiana Isaac Hardin 47 M farmer TN Rebecca Hardin 48 F MD Martha E. Hardin 14 F IN W. E. Harding 11 M IN Minus C. Hardin 5 F IN Sarah O. Hardin 5 F IN

Next hh to Isaac and Rebecca is 76 yr old Martha Jackson also b in MD. If Martha was Rebecca's mother this calls into question whether this is the right Rebecca or if Martha Chambers, wife of James Jackson was born in NC as we have. It would be good to have some way to verify that the Rebecca who married Isaac Hardin was Rebecca Jackson, d/o James Jackson and Martha Patsy Chambers. On the 1850 census for Marion Co., IN, I find Isaac Hardin b in TN & his wife Rebecca b in MD. And next hh to Isaac & Rebecca in 1850 is a 76 yr old Martha Jackson b in MD.

In spite of the doubts raised by this reference to Maryland, I went ahead with inputting Rebecca's family and did find some more info on her son James Thomas and his family. When I found James Thomas' 1880 record it was reassuring to see that he said his mother was born in TN but without additional verification I left Rebecca's birth state blank. I know census records are often wrong, nevertheless, that reference to Maryland is troubling and I would like additional verification that this Rebecca is the daughter of James Jackson and Martha Patsy Chambers and where she was born.
