  2.   Timothy Hastings "of Brookline" and Ephraim Brown "late of Newton" purchased land together in Barre in 1765 which they held in common until 1774 when they divided it by joint quitclaims. Speculating that this might signify some sort of relationship, and noting that Ephraim Bacon married Mary Brown, d/o Thomas and Abigail (--) Brown of Newton, one is naturally led to wonder if Rebecca might be Mary's sister, Rebecca Brown, b. Newton 1734? No probate for the father has yet been located. The family is covered in Source:Jackson, Francis. History of the Early Settlement of Newton, County of Middlesex, Massachusetts, from 1639 to 1800, p. 245, but only a birthdate is given for Rebecca.
