The following contributed by Dr. Anthony Troha:

The New York Times, January 11, 1937, Page 20:

“MRS. LEONARD HICKS Special to The New York Times. OYSTER BAY, L. I., Jan. 10.—Mrs. Rebecca Y. Hicks, widow of Leonard Hicks and a member of one of the oldest families in Oyster Bay Township, died today in the North Country Community Hospital at Glen Cove of lockjaw, following a brief illness. Her age was 62. Mrs. Hicks was born in this community, a daughter of the late Sidney and Mary Townsend McCour [sic: McCoun], who formerly owned the land on which Planting Fields, the W. R. Coe estate, is now established. Three sons, Townsend, Harold and Robert, survive.” 13:51, 28 December 2011 (EST)13:51, 28 December 2011 (EST)

New York Times, January 11, 1937, Page 19: “HICKS—On Sunday, Jan. 10, 1937, Rebecca Y. Hicks, in her sixty-second year. Funeral service at her late residence, East Main St., Oyster Bay, L. I., on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1937, at 2:30 P. M.” 13:51, 28 December 2011 (EST)13:51, 28 December 2011 (EST)

Her obituary establishes that they had three sons, Townsend, Harold, and Robert, and that Leonard passed away prior to her death. I was unable to find an obituary or death notice for him despite several searches. However, I found both of their names in the Sutton-Appleton Family Tree on RootsWeb: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=DESC&db=sutton-appleton&id=I5160 This ancestry tree says Rebecca died in 1937 and is buried in McCoun Cem, Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York. 13:51, 28 December 2011 (EST)13:51, 28 December 2011 (EST)13:51, 28 December 2011 (EST)~~ The 1910 Census is very difficult to read and the indexer has read this family as 'Dicks'. It is actually Leonard M.
