Notes for William Earl "English Bill" Dodrill: The family moved Greenbrier County VA in 1784, but by 1790 Indian pressure caused them to move to Clendenin's fort at the mouth of the Elk River. By 1799 they moved to what is now Boggs, in Webster County, WV, in 1799. William's original name was "Doddridge" and he is listed under that name on the Kanawha County tax rolls for 1799. Greenbrier County records also list "William Doddridge" as the second husband of Rebecca Lewis.
