A Venerable Lady Dead
Mrs. Rebecca Savidge died at the residence of her son, on north Seventh street, Monday evening at 7:30 o'clock. For many years her health had been poor. At times her physician did not think that she would recover. She was one of the pioneers of this county, having resided here about half a century. She was one of the most devoted, sincere members of the M. E. Church, and was highly respected by everybody. She leaves three children and hosts of friends to mourn her loss. Her husband, Levi Savidge, became totally blind in his old age and died several years ago. The surviving children are Foster W., George A., Eliza, wife of Frank Snyder. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Services were held in the M. E. Church, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Gershom Lease. The attendance was large, as the memory of the deceased is held dear in the hearts of our people. Her age was 73 years, 2 months and 28 days.
