Rebecca Hull Stevens' mother, Rebekah Baldwin Hull, died only 16 days after the birth of their youngest daughter, Rebeckah, leaving 6 young daughters, under 15 years of age. (Barbour Collection, Newtown, Hull, Rebeckah, d. [Eliphalet & Rebeckah], b. 17 Aug 1778)

Baby Rebeckah was cared for by a young mother who had recently lost a newborn child, as noted in "The Foote family: The descendants of Nathaniel Foote," by Nathaniel Goodwin, published in 1849 in the family of George Foote and Charity Stillson. "Child, not named, born 1778. Died in infancy, when Mrs. Foote adopted an orphan child, Rebecca Hull, who was born in Newtown, (Conn.,) August 17, 1778. and, to the close of her own life, as kindly cared for her as for her own children. She was married to Beach Stevens, March 29, 1801. He was born April 10, 1779, and died at Harpersfield, (N. Y.,) June 5, 1812. They had 6 children.

Elizabeth's father, Eliphalet, died in May of 1800. His estate was divided among 5 daughters on 17th March 1801 (abt. 2 weeks prior to Rebecca's marriage to Beach Stevens), as recorded in the Danbury district court (as spelled and identified in the record):

Anner, eldest dau. and wife of Allen Shepard;
Abiah, 2nd dau., wife of Samuel A. Judson;
Lydia, 3rd dau. and wife of Alanson Northrop;
Bettey, 4th dau. and wife of David Booth;
Rebeckah Hull, the 5th daughter.
(The 6th daughter was Esther b. 17 Apr 1774. No further information has been found concerning her.)
